Computer system component :

Computer systems consists of three components - central processing unit, input devices and output devices.Input devices provide data input to processor, which processes data and generate useful information that’s displayed to the user through output devices. This is stored in computers memory .

Three components -

1. CPU

2. Memory

3. Input/ Output Units

The computer is a device that operated upon information or data.It is an electronic device which accepts inputs data, stores the data, dose arithmetic and logical operations and provides the output In the desired format. the computer receives data, process so a computer should have at least four major components to perform these task.

Components of Computer System

The  basic parts of computer and their functions are -

Input unit : the input unit is formed by the input devices attached to the computer . Input device are used to interact with a computer system or used to interact with a computer system or used enter data and constructions to the computer. These devices convert input data and instructions into a suitable binary form such as ASCII,which can be accepted by the computer.

1. It accepts data and interaction from the outside worlds.

2. It converts these data and instructions into computer understandable from binary form.

3. It supplied the converted data and instruction to computer system for further processing

Memory unit : This Memory unit also called storage unit. The data and instruction, which are entered through an input must be stored on the computer before the actual processing starts, the result produces by the computer after processing is also kept somewhere before passed to the output units. If intermediate results are produced during processing,It should be sorted in somewhere in memory, the storage unit of a computer performs all these needs.

1. It stored data and instructions, which are entered through input device entered through input device.

2. It stores an intermediate results of processing.

3. It stores the final results of processing before these results are passed to an output device.

CPU : CPU is the component that actually responsible for interpreting and executing most of the commands from the computer hardware and software and also controls the operation of all other components such as memory unit, input, output device. It is logical machine, It simply accepts binary data as input and provides the results as output.

1. Read instruction from memory.

2. Communicate with all peripherals using the system bus.

3. It controls the sequence of instructions.

4. It controls the flow of data from one component to another component

5. Performs the computing task specified in the program.

Cu (control unit ):

1. It performs the data processing operating with the aid of programs prepared by the user and send control signals to various parts of the computer system.

2. It gives commands to transfer data from the input device to the memory to an arithmetic logic unit

3. It also transfers the results from ALU to the memory and then to the output devices.

4. It stores program in the memory

5. It fetches the required instructions from the main storage and decode each instruction and hence execute them in sequence.

ALU (Arithmetic and logic unit ):

1. It accepts operands from registers .

2. It performs arithmetic and logical operator

3. It returns a result to register or a memory

Output Unit :

The output unit is formed by the output devices attached to the computer.Output devices are used to the present result produced by the computer to the users. The output from the computer is in the form electric signals.

1. Accepts the results produced by the computer which is in electric binary signals.

2. It then converts the results into human readable form.

3. Finally,It supplied the converted results to the outside world.
